Advancing the field of environmental economics

For almost two decades, IDRC has supported environmental economics networks as they investigate key issues facing developing countries. Their work has shed light on the underlying causes of environmental degradation. And it has suggested solutions to benefit people and the planet, while supporting sustainable development.

IDRC-funded projects have:
  • demonstrated the value of the environment to people
  • guided thinking about the root causes of environmental problems and ways to correct them
  • identified ways to finance environmental protection
  • provided information to help design policies and to put them into practice
