Global solutions for global challenges

For 40 years, IDRC has supported research throughout the developing world. Our goal? To nurture the innovative capacity that resides there. We’ve helped forge relationships between Canadian and developing-country researchers, bringing them together to address our most urgent issues.

Our support aims to foster knowledge leadership, creativity, and drive. We help citizens and leaders of developing countries work together to learn, innovate, and improve their own futures. What do we want for them? Treatments for infectious diseases, markets for their products, access to nutritious foods, cleaner environments, safer drinking water, greater gender and economic equality, and better responses to natural disasters.

We believe that in many cases, the best results come from a meeting of the minds—research and initiatives that cross borders and eliminate boundaries.
