IDRC Research awards – Short-listed candidates checklist

1. Short-listed candidates will receive an email to inform them that they have been shortlisted and will be asked to provide additional information and documents listed below:

a. Official transcripts from your most recent completed degree AND your current program of study, if applicable;

b. Confirmation of registration in a master’s or doctoral program, if applicable;

c. Recommendation forms to be completed by recommenders; and

d. A letter of support from an organization willing to host the candidate in the field and provide general support (i.e., with local ethics review, administrative processes, etc.).

2. More details regarding required of documents

 a. ​​​​​Official transcripts

You will be required to send by email copies of original or notarized/certified transcripts from your most recent completed degree AND your current program of study, even if it is not completed.

Note: Web transcripts or academic history are not recognized as official transcripts. If you are a citizen of a developing country and cannot submit the requested transcripts, please upload a scanned signed letter on official letterhead from the university confirming the degree and the marks obtained.

b. Recommendations

You must provide the names and contact information of two people: one must be a professor and the other must be a professional reference. Once you have completed the recommendation request forms, the recommenders will receive an email notification that explains the steps of completing the recommendation form.

​​​​​​​c. Letter of support

The field research must be in collaboration with a strong host organization and the candidate must include a letter of support from the organization. The organization must be willing to provide support through local ethics review and other administrative processes.
