Celebrating gender equality for International Development Week 2019

February 1, 2019
International Development Week, observed February 3-9 this year, is an opportunity to focus on Canada’s contributions to global development.

IDRC is highlighting this year’s theme, “Together for gender equality”, by sharing the many ways research can help achieve gender equality and empower women.

The Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs) commitment to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all will be achieved only if development initiatives consider and promote the unique needs, knowledge, roles, and potential of women and girls. In Canada, the Feminist International Assistance Policy further promotes the importance of empowering women and girls to reach their full potential.

Follow us on TwitterFacebook, and LinkedIn from February 3-9 to learn more about how our supported research is contributing to achieve gender equality,  and how, along with our funding partners, we’re contributing to meeting SDG 5.

In Ottawa? Don’t miss the panel ”Challenging power structures in the context of global changes” at the University of Ottawa. This event is part of IDRC’s Solutions for Gender Equality speaker series.
