As a result of COVID-19, closing gender gaps in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is a bigger challenge than ever before. The Gender in STEM Research Initiative aims to champion women’s contributions to science, and to society at large.
May Sabe Phyu has won an N-Peace Award from the United Nations Development Program. Founded in 2010, N-Peace awards recognize women from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka who shine a spotlight on gender-related issues.
The University of British Columbia, Canada and Yangon University of Economics, Myanmar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that solidifies their collaboration in support of evidence-based policy development in Myanmar. This agreement is the first of its kind between a Canadian and Myanmar university.
